Introduction

Facebook requires that every business page be linked to a personal profile. However, if you want to transfer your business to another administrator, you can unlink your personal account and assign management to another personal or business account on Facebook while keeping your page active. You can also create a new business page with Meta Business Manager and manage your Facebook Business Page separately from your personal account. Use these step-by-step instructions to safely remove your Facebook Business Page from your personal account.

Log In to Facebook and Access Your Business Page

Start by logging into your personal Facebook account.Once logged in, click on your profile picture in the top-right corner, and your business pages will be the first items in the list that displays. Click on the Business Page you want to transfer. From your Page dashboard, locate and click on the “Professional Dashboard” or “Settings” icon, depending on whether you’re using the classic or new Page experience. This will open your Page management options.

Add a New Admin to the Page

Before you remove yourself, it’s important to add another person or account to manage your page. Without an admin, the page could become inaccessible.Go to Settings, New Pages Experience, Page Access (or Page Roles in the older layout). Click “Add New” or “Add Person to Page.” Then, type in the name or email of the person or account you want to give access to.From the list of role options, select “Admin” and confirm your choice. This role gives full control to the new manager, allowing them to edit, post, and manage settings for the page.Once you’ve added the new admin, Facebook will send them an invitation. Once accepted, they gain full control.

Remove Your Personal Account from the Page

After the new admin has accepted the invitation, return to the “Page Access” or “Page Roles” section in your page settings. You’ll see a list of people who currently manage the page, including your personal profile. Click “Remove” next to your name. Facebook will ask you to confirm that you want to delete your access. Once you confirm, your personal account will no longer be linked to the Business Page.

Use Meta Business Suite or Business Manager (Optional)

If you want to manage your Facebook Business Page separately from your personal account, you can also create a Meta Business Suite or Meta Business Manager account.

Click "Meta Business Suite" on your business profile page and create a new business account using a different email than your personal one. Once your Business Manager is set up, add your Facebook Page to it under Business Settings, Accounts, Pages.

This allows you to manage the Page, Ads, and Instagram accounts without using your personal profile directly. From there, you can assign roles, create posts, and access insights—all within the business dashboard.

Review Linked Apps and Permissions

Even after unlinking your personal profile, it’s wise to double-check for any lingering connections between your personal Facebook and your Business Page.

Under your Facebook Settings, Apps and Websites, review any integrations or third-party services that might still have access through your personal profile. Remove or transfer those connections to your new admin or Business Manager account to ensure complete separation.

If you have any problems, click here to contact Facebook.

Conclusion

While Facebook requires every Business Page to be managed by at least one account, it doesn’t have to be your personal one. By transferring admin rights, removing yourself from page access, and using Meta Business Suite, you can successfully unlink your Business Page from your personal account and keep your work life and private life separate.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Facebook Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
