I have two separate tickets. Flying out of SGU to Phoenix. Them changing to Southwest Airlines to fly to ft. Lauderdale. I want to check in my bag at SGU to final destination, ft Lauderdale. Is this possible? I have *.* hr in Phoenix before my next Southwest flight leaves. I don't want to feel hurried!

American no loger checks in bags to final destination WHEN MORE THAN ONE AIRLINE IS INVOLVED TO GET PASENGERS TO FINAL DESTINATION. If I check my bag with American on my short flight ( $** fee) to Phoenix where I make a connection (In my Case) I would have to go to baggage claim at Phoenix airport to pick it up, then check in bag with OTHER airline and go thru custom again to continue with my travels to final destination. Sooo. No brainer. Carrying my bag on.
