Call Verizon

Keep your account information handy as you'll them for verification purposes. The information you need are your Verizon Fios account number, service address, and the last four digits of your Social Security number. Make sure that you are also the primary account holder.

Call Verizon only during office hours, from Monday to Friday at 8 am - 7 pm ET. You can also call them on a Saturday from 8 am - 5 pm.

If you are still under contract with Verizon Fios, you will incur an early termination fee, which is prorated, based on how long you have been using the service. Expect to pay a maximum of $350 early termination fee.

Cancel Verizon Fios Via Chat

You can cancel a Verizon Fios service through chat. Just type in Cancel in the question box and follow the on-screen instructions. Consider logging in to your account first before chatting with an agent.

Sign In To Your Account

You can also sign in to your Verizon Fios account and choose Disconnect Service either from the Account Dashboard or the Account Settings page. Then, follow the on-screen prompts to disconnect or cancel your service successfully.

Note that the online cancellation option is ONLY for Verizon Fios service.. It's not applicable to other Verizon services, such as DSL or high-speed internet.

After cancelling the service, you're required to return any leased equipment within 30 days to avoid additional charges for unreturned equipment. You can only start the return process by contacting Verizon Fios directly.

Return the Equipment to UPS

Use this store locator to find the nearest UPS store in your area. You can also ask the representative for the closest UPS store. Once you're at UPS, the staff scans the equipment's serial number and ships it directly to Verizon. Don't forget to keep the return receipt, in case there are issues with the return.

Wait for the confirmation message and contact Verizon if you don't receive the email. Additionally, do make sure the equipment isn't damaged to avoid paying extra fees. A damaged Verizon router can cost about $200, while an Extender can cost $145.

Conclusion

Do you know that you can also suspend your Verizon Fios service? If you're canceling because you're going away for a few months, why not suspend the service instead? Note that you can also transfer the service if you're moving to a new address. However, the area must also have Verizon services; otherwise, you won't be able to transfer your service. Another option is to also downgrade your service to save money. If you're still planning to cancel, just follow the instructions above and get in touch with Customer Support if you have further questions.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Verizon FiOS Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
