How Do I Elect Ebills in My Citizens Bank Account?

The concept of banking has evolved since early merchant in antiquity loaned grain to farmers with the expectations of repayment. Now banks offer a variety of products ranging from daily checking and savings to investment accounts. Banking customers can also take advantage of online banking features such as bill pay which automatically enrolls them in ebill. Your paper statements are discontinued through your payees, but you'll view them electronically in one place.

If you've wondered about enrolling in ebills through Citizens Bank, you're not alone. Read on to learn more.

The Connection Between Bill Pay and Ebills

Typically, a customer is enrolled in ebill automatically after he or she opts in for bill pay. A review of the FAQs pages was unable to verify this was a Citizens Bank policy, but research of similar banks confirmed this as a normal procedure.

When you use the bill pay feature, you send a request to your bank to view your bills online, and your bank needs to show you the correct amount each billing period. Your bank requests the payee send an ebill directly to your account dashboard.

How to Enroll in ebill

First, opt in for the bill pay feature. There's little extra charge and you can opt out anytime if it's not for you. Your most recent bill makes it easier to add the appropriate payee. You might need name, address, zip code, and phone number to successfully add the payee to your account. Your account number is also good, but usually optional.

Sign in to your Citizens Bank account and go to the Payments area. Click Add New Payee and choose either Add a Bill or Add a Person. Enter the appropriate details and confirm everything as correct. Click the Submit button, but keep in mind that ebill enrollment can take a few days to complete. Enter your password if prompted to verify the update on your account.
