What are the hours and when should I call?

Bank of America operates the call center for this 704-386-5687 phone number 24 hours, 7 days. The short answer is that you should call on a Monday. This observation and the following section are based on analysis of a sample set of 70,005 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).
An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this Bank of America phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like Bank of America staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.

The least busy time to call

The least busy day to call Bank of America is Monday. The most busy day to call is Friday. Again, this is based on a sample of 70,005 calls made with our AI-powered, web-based phone in the last 90 days.

The shortest wait on hold

We measured the shortest hold times to be on Tuesday. The longest wait in the queue on average occurs on Thursday.

The best time to call

In summation, the best day to call Bank of America is Monday. This is not the day with the shortest wait on hold in the phone system, but we still recommend it for its ideal combination of low call volume and short hold times. Plus we believe that Bank of America staffs the call center well on Monday.

This phone number for Bank of America is no longer in service. It tells you to call 800-432-1000 instead. This is the main support number that's listed on their website. It's answered by an automated system that asks you to say or enter a telephone access ID, card or account number. If you don't respond, it says that for security, you must provide the required information to reach an agent or use the automated system. However, there were no further details on the automated system, so I'm not sure how to access that. I tried pressing 0, but it just repeats the message.

I was calling to ask about opening an account with Bank of America, so I had no ID number to provide. Their website says this number is for account information, lost or stolen ATM or debit cards and opening an account. The site has several categories, and you must select one to see the relevant contact information. A few have different phone numbers, such as credit cards and loans, but most list the 800-432-1000 number.

Most of these contact pages have a corresponding list of frequently asked questions. They also have a branch and ATM locator and an online system for scheduling in-person appointments. Besides phone numbers, you can find their mailing address and links to message them on Facebook or Twitter.

The online help center has several articles covering different topics. There are trending topics near the top; they include routing number, bill pay, make a payment, dispute charge and Erica virtual assistant. They appear to have articles covering all of their products and tools. You can apply for checking, savings, CDs, credit card and loan accounts from their main home page. All of these take you to landing pages with information on all the available options.

Looking online, it seems this number used to go to the corporate headquarters; some sites list it as the office of the CEO. However, it now directs you to the main 800-432-1000 support line. You can't get to an agent without verifying account information. Though this number is listed online for opening new accounts, I only see a way to do that in person at a branch or by applying on their website. The most common reason to call Bank of America appears to be for fraud and unauthorized charges. Most customers would rather talk to someone about such a complex issue than try navigating it online. However, dozens of bad reviews complain about the lack of help in this area.
