How do I get through the phone menu to a real live person?

GetHuman researchers routinely call this Bank of America phone number to document the phone system.
Here is our latest tip for weaving through the phone menu to get to a real person the fastest: Calling this Bank of America number should go right to a real human being
Here is how our research team describes the way the Bank of America phone system greets you: Just hold online until a representative picks up
In fact, much of this information on this page is superfluous because this Bank of America phone number is a direct line to a human being. The line is well-staffed and you should anticipate a very short wait on hold or none whatsoever, as long as you are calling during business hours.
We don't know of any phone menus you would encounter when calling either.

What are the hours and when should I call?

Bank of America operates the call center for this 800-518-0479 phone number Mon-Fri 9am-5pm ET. The short answer is that you should call on a Friday. This observation and the following section are based on analysis of a sample set of 70,005 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).
An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this Bank of America phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like Bank of America staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.

The least busy time to call

The least busy day to call Bank of America is Friday. The most busy day to call is Thursday. Again, this is based on a sample of 70,005 calls made with our AI-powered, web-based phone in the last 90 days.

The shortest wait on hold

We measured the shortest hold times to be on Monday. The longest wait in the queue on average occurs on Thursday.

The best time to call

In summation, the best day to call Bank of America is Friday. This is not the day with the shortest wait on hold in the phone system, but we still recommend it for its ideal combination of low call volume and short hold times. Plus we believe that Bank of America staffs the call center well on Friday.
Once again, please put this information in perspective because this phone number has no phone menu or long waits. It generally gets picked up right away if calling during their opening hours. If there is any way, it will typically be very short.

Calling this Bank of America Customer Number

Calling Bank of America for customer service questions or concerns can be tedious as wait times tend to be long. As a longtime customer of Bank of America and parent of a teenager, I decided to find out what banking options are available for students and teens.

Upon calling, I was greeted by an automated recording letting me know that recent increased call volume was causing higher than usual hold times, and an associate would be with me as soon as possible. The recording also directed me to opt for self-service banking options on Bank of America's website or at local ATM machines. No other menu options were offered but I had some time to spare so decided to wait.

While on hold listening to some pleasant music, the automated recording returned periodically to let callers know about Bank of America's products, accounts and online banking support. The recording also encouraged me to continue holding as all associates were assisting other customers and my call would be answered in the order it was received.

By now, I'd been waiting on hold for at least 10 minutes, and considered hanging up to try again. Another recording informed me that I could access assistance through Bank of America's mobile banking app, which I don't currently use but considered getting the app while waiting on hold to see if that would lead to faster service. The recurring recordings continued to encourage me to keep holding as an associate would be with me soon.

Finally, after close to 20 minutes of waiting, a customer service rep was on the line, apologizing for the wait and asking how they could help me. I explained my request of trying to find the right account to get my teenager started with banking and saving. The rep shared about Bank of America's Advantage SafeBalance Banking program that allows students and adults under age 25 to open a checking account without a monthly fee. Account holders receive a debit card to use at any bank or ATM in addition to being able to pay for checks if they'd prefer to use those.

Students and teens can also enroll in online banking with this kind of account, the rep explained, and have the ability to open a savings account as well. I asked the rep how to begin the process for opening an account and he suggested scheduling an appointment at a nearby branch to get started or applying online at the specific link he provided. I thanked him for his time and headed to the website to read about the process, which was anticipated to take about 10 minutes online.

While the rep was helpful in providing the basic information I needed, the wait time was outrageously long so callers should be prepared to on hold for a while.
