Verizon offers its customers wireless phones and tablets as well as phone plans. If you have a Verizon phone that you have lost or think has been stolen, keep reading to find out your next steps.

Attempt to Locate Device

Before you take any further action, you should attempt to locate your device. You can do this by using a GPS enabled tracking app. However, the app would have had to been downloaded and activated on your phone before you lost the device.

The type of app that you'll use will depend on the brand of your phone.

  • iPhone device users should log in to their Find My iPhone app
  • Android device users should log in to their Find My Device app
  • Windows device users should log in to their Microsoft Support account to locate their phone

If this doesn't work, you don't have these apps activated, or your phone is showing up at a stolen location, you can move on to the next stage.

Contact Verizon Wireless Customer Service Via Phone

Call into the Verizon Wireless customer support line and report your phone stolen. The customer service agent will be able to suspend your phone so anyone who finds it is unable to use it. You should receive a confirmation email once the phone's service has been suspended. Keep the agent on the line until you receive this email.

Additionally, the customer service representative can provide you with your options in terms of the next steps and a new phone.

Contact Verizon Wireless Customer Service Via Live Chat

If you prefer not to speak to someone on the phone, you can use the Verizon Wireless live chat function. Ask the customer service agent for help in suspending your phone's service. You may need to provide personal and contact information to confirm your identity before any action can be taken on your account.

You should receive a confirmation email once the phone's service has been suspended. Keep the agent on the chat until you receive this email.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Verizon Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Verizon in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our How Can I Track a Lost or Stolen Verizon Phone? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
