Calling Macy's is actually very easy and doesn't even require interaction with a customer service representative in many cases. When I called, I was taken to the automated menu, where I was asked for my language. I chose English, and the system proceeded to ask me why I was calling.

I said that I wanted information on returns, and the system told me exactly how I could start processing a return. The system said that if I wanted to return an item, I would have 30 days from the date of delivery to do so, and I would have two options with which to return it.

I could either use Macy's online return system, or I could return the item in store. If I chose the online return system, I would pay no fee if I was part of the Macy's rewards program. If I wasn't part of the program, I would be charged a fee of $9.95, and this would be deducted from my refund when I returned the item.

If I chose to return at a store, I could do so with either items that I'd bought in store or items that I had ordered online. If I had bought the items in store, I would have to return them only to the store where I bought them, as no other option is available when returning in-store goods.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with how smoothly the call ran. I never had an issue with the system being unable to answer a question, as the detailed message offered a miniature version filled with anything someone might ask. I had all the information needed to decide when to ship an item back and still be able to get full credit back for the cost of that item. Based on this, I would absolutely use this number if I needed assistance, as it seems to be a sign of strong attention to details.
