What Is Choice Hotels' Coronavirus or Cancellation Policy?

When scheduling a room with Choice Hotels since the onset of COVID-19, or coronavirus, it is important to know what the hotel chain's cancellation policy states. What is Choice Hotels' coronavirus or cancellation policy? You can learn more about the hotels by calling customer service here, and below is an outline of the cancellation and COVID-19 policies.

Choice Hotels COVID-19 Policy

Now that the world is emerging from the worst of COVID-19, Choice Hotels, like many other hotel chains, has rolled back coronavirus policies that were mainstays at the height of the pandemic. Choice Hotels remains committed to providing a clean, safe environment for travelers, including the following:

  • High-traffic areas within the hotel will receive enhanced cleaning and disinfecting to reduce the risk of disease transmission.
  • The furniture in the common, or public, areas will be arranged to encourage and facilitate social distancing.
  • Breakfasts at the hotel may change to promote safety and security, with many of the breakfasts being prepackaged to avoid cross-contamination.

Choice Hotels also encourages travelers to purchase travel insurance to help offset any penalties they may face if they have to cancel a reservation.

Choice Hotels Cancellation Policy

The cancellation policy for an upcoming stay depends on the location and the type of booking when the room was reserved. To know what the cancellation policy is for your reservation, do the following steps:

  1. Open Choice Hotels website in your browser or open the mobile app on your phone or tablet.
  2. Select your destination and dates of travel.
  3. Click or tap on "Rates and Details" to see what rooms are available.
  4. In the window to book the room, review the cancellation date that is listed to make sure you don't incur penalties.
  5. Many Choice Hotels will let you cancel your stay up to the check-in time at the hotel; however, you need to make sure you will not be charged for the entire stay or a partial stay when you cancel.
  6. Prepaid reservations are generally non-refundable regardless of when they are canceled; however, you may be able to call the hotel directly or Choice Hotels' customer support to reschedule a stay rather than cancel.

When making a reservation, it is important to pay attention to the cancellation policy listed for that particular booking to make sure you will not be penalized if you do have to forego your trip. For more information or assistance, call Choice Hotels' customer support.
