What are the hours and when should I call?

eTrade operates the call center for this 800-387-2331 phone number 24 hours, 7 days.  The short answer is that you should call on a Thursday. This observation and the following section are based on analysis of a sample set of 536 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).
An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this eTrade phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like eTrade staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.

The least busy time to call

The least busy day to call eTrade is Sunday. The most busy day to call eTrade is Monday.  Again, this is based on a sample of 536 calls made with our AI-powered, web-based phone in the last 90 days.

The shortest wait on hold

We measured the shortest hold times to be on Thursday. The longest wait in the queue on average occurs on Saturday, which is 215% longer than the minimum. Most companies see more fluctuation in the length of hold times, but as you can see, time spent waiting for a eTrade representative is more consistent than the number of calls throughout the week.

The best time to call

In summation, the best day to call eTrade is Thursday.  It isn't the least busy day, but the fact that hold times are shortest combined with it being on the busy side tells us that eTrade staffs up on Thursday to handle the higher call volume, and that makes it the best time to call.

Calling this eTrade Customer Number

2025-03-31T00:00:00.000Z

I've never been much of a trader, but I'm looking for a way to increase my investments and make my money work for me. My friends keep telling me to check out trading platforms so I decided to take a look at eTrade. I didn't want to just blindly sign up online though since I don't know too much about it, so I decided to call someone to talk about creating an account.

I wasn't sure how great an internet company would be at offering personal customer service since my experience with internet companies has not been the best. I was pleasantly surprised though, because there weren't too many steps to get to the hold line and even then the wait wasn't too long.

When I called, a voice assistant stated, "Welcome to eTrade, to get started, please say or enter your account or social security number. Not a current eTrade customer? Say new account." I said that I wanted a new account and it replied, "Okay, a new account. Please hold while I connect you with a customer representative."

It took less than a few minutes and I was already in the hold line which was just pleasant hold music. It was interesting though because the recorded voice said that the music was created by employees of the company. That was kind of a neat tidbit. It took ten minutes so I got to listen to a few, and then a helpful customer agent helped me through setting up my new account.
