Top Reasons People are Deleting WhatsApp

Your reasons for deleting WhatsApp can vary depending on why you had the app and how you used it. Below are some main reasons people have been deleting their WhatsApp accounts:

  1. Privacy: when WhatsApp was bought by Facebook, many people were concerned about privacy issues when using the app.
  2. Contact List: WhatsApp wants to have access to your phone's contact list whether those individuals use the app or not.
  3. Tracking: The app keeps track of your use by tracking how long you're interacting, how frequently you use the app and when you use the app.
  4. Scammers: WhatsApp has become a go-to app for individuals trying to scam others. This has turned a lot of users away from the platform.
  5. Other Options: There are a variety of other options available that people feel more comfortable using.

What Happens When You Delete Your WhatsApp?

The first thing you may be wondering is what will happen to your data/account once you delete it. When you delete your WhatsApp account, all your message history will be deleted from both the app and your Google Drive account. You also will not be able to get immediate access back to your account if you delete it. Your account will no longer be active; therefore, you cannot use it to communicate. Family and friends who contacted you this way will no longer be able to reach you through the app. When they try to contact you through WhatsApp, they will receive a message that your account is no longer active. If you want to reactivate your account, it could take up to 90 days to fully reactivate your WhatsApp account.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for WhatsApp Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
