SunTrust Bank is an American banking institution. Founded in 1891 the bank has over 1,400 bank locations across Washington, DC and several southeastern states. The company offers individual clients and small businesses checking and savings accounts, credit cards, mortgages, retirement saving solutions, and wealth management services. If you need to recover access to your SunTrust bank account, there are several steps you should take. Follow the instructions outlined below.

Reset Your SunTrust Account Password

  1. Go to https://www.suntrust.com/

  2. Select 'Sign On' in the top right corner.

  3. Click on 'Forgot User ID/Password.'

  4. Under 'I can't sign on because:' select 'I forgot my password.' Click 'Next.'

  5. You can choose between 'Use my SunTrust Debit Card to reset my password' or 'Use my SunTrust account number to reset my password.' Make your selection and click 'Reset Password.'

  6. You will need to provide the number for the option you chose, along with your Social Security Number. If you choose the account number option, you will have to answer your security question.

  7. Select 'Reset Password.'

  8. Follow the prompted instructions and finish resetting your password.

Forgot Your SunTrust Account User ID

  1. Go to https://www.suntrust.com/

  2. Select 'Sign On' in the top right corner.

  3. Click on 'Forgot User ID/Password.'

  4. Under 'I can't sign on because:' select 'I forgot my user ID.' Click 'Next.'

  1. You can choose between 'Use my SunTrust Debit Card to verify my identity' or 'Use my SunTrust Security Question to verify my identity' Make your selection and click 'Reset User ID.'

    • For the debit card number option, you will need to provide your debit card number, your social security number, and your debit PIN.

    • For the security question option, you will need to provide the last four digits of your account number, your social security number, choose a security question to answer, and the answer to the security question.

  2. Select 'Request User ID.'

  3. Your User ID will display on the screen. Use it to sign on to your account.

Forgot Both Your SunTrust Account User ID and Password

  1. Go to https://www.suntrust.com/

  2. Select 'Sign On' in the top right corner.

  3. Click on 'Forgot User ID/Password.'

  4. Under 'I can't sign on because:' select 'I forgot both my User ID and password.' Click 'Next.'

  5. You can choose between 'Use my SunTrust Debit Card to verify my identity' or 'Use my SunTrust Security Question to verify my identity' Make your selection and click 'Reset User ID.'

    • For the debit card number option, you will need to provide your debit card number, your social security number, and your debit PIN.

    • For the security question option, you will need to provide the last four digits of your account number, your social security number, choose a security question to answer, and the answer to the security question.

  6. Select 'Request User ID and Reset Password.'

  7. Your User ID will display on the screen and you'll be prompted to reset your password. Follow the instructions and sign in to your account with your new password.

Contact SunTrust Bank Customer Service Support Via Phone

If the above options do not seem to work for you, you can call into the SunTrust Bank customer support line. You will need to provide some personal details to verify your identification.

Visit a SunTrust Bank Location

You can visit a SunTrust location to ask for assistance recovering access to your bank account. Make sure to have two pieces of government-issued identification with you and your SunTrust bank card. Find the closest branch next to you:

  1. Go to https://www.suntrust.com/find-us

  2. Enter your city, state or Zip.

  3. Under 'Choose a Service,' select 'Branch.'

  4. Under 'Select Radius,' select '5 miles.'

  5. Click 'Search.'

  6. Make a note of the branch hours and days of operation before going to the branch.
