TikTok is used by hundreds of millions of people worldwide every day without a problem. Unfortunately, despite such a success record, things sometimes go wrong with the app. If you can't get TikTok to open, there are a few possible causes. Read on to learn what they are and what you can do to fix them.

No Network Connection

If you get a "No network connection" message when trying to access the app, you should check your network connection. If it's not good, taking care of your internet connection should resolve this problem. If your connection is good, then the problem is that the app is not connecting to it. If this is the case, try turning the app off and starting it again. If that doesn't fix the problem, follow these instructions:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Applications.
  3. Select Choose TikTok.
  4. Select App Permissions.
  5. Select Allow Wifi and Mobile Data.
  6. Enable it if it is not already enabled. If that is the case, this should fix the problem.

You Need an Update

It's possible that your version of the app has just gotten a little too old and needs an update. Go to Play Store and use the search feature to find the TikTok app to fix this problem. Tap on Update. After the update is complete, restart your phone. The chances are good that this has taken care of your problem.

Clear the Cache

Because of all the videos, TikTok makes a lot of use of caches. Sometimes, enough old data can build up in them to cause problems in the way TikTok works. If you've tried everything else to no avail, this could be the solution you're looking for. Follow these instructions:

  1. Open your mobile device's settings.
  2. Select Applications.
  3. Find TikTok.
  4. Select Clear Cache.
  5. Restart your device.

Contacting TikTok

If you just can't get TikTok to open no matter what you try, you can get help from TikTok's customer service by emailing a representative. Unfortunately, there are no other contact options.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for TikTok Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like TikTok in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What Do I Do If My TikTok Won't Open? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
