If your TikTok account has been hacked, you need to take immediate action. Follow the procedures below to minimize the damage and take back control of your account.
If You Still Have Access to Your TikTok Account
If someone has hacked into your account, they'll be accessing it from a different device than the one you use to access it. This will trigger an automatic alert from TikTok, telling you that someone has logged into your account from an unknown device. If this happens, immediately log into your account and change your password so the hacker can no longer gain access.
The longer you wait to do this, the more likely it is that the hacker will change your password so you can no longer access your account. You should also look over other apps that can access your TikTok account, and take access away from any that don't seem familiar to you.
To change your password, follow these instructions:
- Log into your TikTok account.
- Go to your profile page.
- Tap on the three vertical dots in the upper right corner.
- Tap on "Manage My Account."
- Tap on "Password."
- Enter the security code you were sent.
- Enter a new password. You should use a stronger password than your last one.
- Tap on "Log In."
If You No Longer Have Access to Your TikTok Account
If a hacker got into the account and changed your password before you could, perform the following steps:
- Go to TikTok's login page.
- Tap on "Forgot Password?"
- Enter the phone number or email address associated with your account to receive a temporary access code.
- Enter the code you were sent.
- Enter a new, stronger password.
- Tap on "Log In."
You should now have complete control of your account again, with the hacker locked out of it. However, since it could have been an app that gave the hacker access, you should review all apps that have access to your account and get rid of any you don't recognize.
