How Do I Forward My Landline Phone to My AT&T Cell Phone?

In a nutshell: Call forwarding allows you to send incoming calls from your landline to your AT&T mobile phone. Depending on the type of call-forwarding feature enabled, calls may be forwarded immediately, when your line is busy, or when you don't answer after a certain number of rings. When standard call forwarding is turned on, your landline may ring once, but you won't be able to answer the forwarded call from that phone unless you turn the call forwarding feature off. Dial *72

To activate call forwarding, dial *72 from your landline phone and wait for the dial tone. Then, enter your AT&T mobile number. Be sure to include the area code or country code if required. For local calls, simply enter the 10-digit mobile number.

Remain on the line until you hear the confirmation tone indicating that call forwarding has been activated. Also, make sure that no one is using your AT&T mobile phone while you're setting up call forwarding. If the mobile line is busy, the call forwarding feature may not activate successfully.

Do you travel internationally? Keep in mind that if your calls are forwarded while you're outside the United States, additional long-distance or international forwarding charges may apply, depending on your calling plan.

To turn off call forwarding, dial 72# and follow the prompts. Pressing 72 is for All Call Forwarding. If you wish to only transfer calls when the number is busy, proceed to the next step.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for AT&T Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
