Introduction

Do you plan to cancel your AT&T internet service? Unless AT&T instructs you not to return the equipment, all customers must return all accessories and equipment. A non-return fee applies if you fail to return the equipment within 21 days of cancellation. The fee is charged to the credit card on file. You may still return it within 6 months, undamaged, and get a refund. Do note that wall-mounted AT&T equipment need not be returned. If you plan to or have already cancelled, continue reading for instructions on how to return your AT&T internet equipment.

Return the Equipment at Any FedEx Location

AT&T doesn't accept equipment returns at its stores. To return your internet equipment, visit the closest FedEx store and ensure they scan the equipment first. Otherwise, you may be asked to pay a non-return fee if FedEx doesn't scan the equipment. To locate a nearby FedEx store, enter your ZIP code or city and click Search. You may also browse the FedEx directory to find the most convenient location for your equipment return.

Be sure to bring your AT&T account number when returning the equipment. Once the return has been processed, you'll receive confirmation that the equipment is being shipped back to AT&T. Equipment returns through FedEx are free of charge.

Before visiting FedEx, contact AT&T first to confirm which items need to be returned. Certain equipment, such as antennas and some wall-mounted devices, may not need to be sent back. Instead, you can dispose of them by calling a recycling center near you.

Visit a UPS Location for Returns

If there isn't a FedEx store near you, look for the closest UPS store for your AT&T internet equipment. The process is similar. Simply bring the equipment along with your AT&T account number, and a store representative can assist you with the return. You'll still get confirmation once your equipment has been shipped to AT&T. Be sure to keep any receipt or confirmation provided by UPS as proof of your return.

Some of the equipment that needs to be returned include the power supply, Wi-Fi Extenders, Wi-Fi gateway, and All-Fi Hub. When unsure which equipment to return, don't hesitate to contact AT&T at your earliest convenience.

Contact AT&T for a Return Kit

If you're more than 10 miles from a UPS or FedEx store, feel free to contact AT&T to get a return kit. You can also get a return kit if you have a disability. As soon as you receive the kit, pack your equipment, attach the prepaid shipping label, and mail it back to AT&T. To contact AT&T, either call them at their 1-800 number or chat with a representative.

Conclusion

Have you already cancelled your service? Please make sure the equipment is undamaged to avoid paying a damaged equipment fee. Also, it's best to cancel your service within 14 days of activation to avoid an early termination fee. If you cancel after 14 days, service fees and other charges do apply. And as mentioned, return the equipment as soon as you cancel or within 21 days to avoid extra charges. Just follow the instructions above on how to return the equipment. Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for AT&T U-Verse Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
