Is AT&T Discontinuing U-Verse?

Yes, the shutdown is happening. AT&T is shifting U-Verse customers to DirecTV. The company is effecting a complete phase-out of the long-standing U-Verse brand in a move that is in line with its new strategy. So, customers will not be able to continue paying their service plans but can choose to cancel or accept the transfer.

Customers using autopay feature are usually the last ones to find out about the transfer. No worries? You still enjoy the same services on DirecTV.

Is There a Difference Between AT&T U-Verse and DirecTV?

The two are nearly identical in their services. Probably, that is why U-Verse subscribers are being transferred to DirecTV. Besides, your subscription fee is the same, which means you won't feel a thing.

DirecTV gives you more TV packages to select from, but U-verse has a higher channel count. Pricing for the two TV packages is the same, and adding an internet saves you about $10 monthly on your internet bill.

Does AT&T DirecTV Require a Dish?

The streaming DirecTV service doesn't need a dish. Consequently, you won't need a satellite to enjoy DirecTV services. Customers will need an annual contract and set-top box for this service. Most customers have switched to Directv, which is giving them convenience. Customers can watch videos, music, TV shows and movies on their mobile devices and access DirecTV preview, which allows them to snack on the new DirecTV content at no charge. AT&T aims to give customers a product with options and choices on how they are consuming premium pay-TV content.
