YouTube channels can feature custom images called banners. The banner displays along the top of your channel screen, and anyone who accesses your channel will see it.

YouTube channel banners are sometimes called channel branding or artwork. You can edit your banner from a desktop or mobile device. Here's how to get started.

Edit YouTube Banner on a Computer

You can manage your YouTube channel banner via the Studio dashboard on a desktop device.

  • Log into your YouTube account and click on your profile picture at the top right corner
  • Choose YouTube Studio from the menu
  • On the Studio dashboard, look for the scrollable menu on the left side of your screen
  • Click Customization, then Branding
  • Scroll down and click Change under Banner image

Now you can upload a new YouTube channel banner. The image has to be at least 2048 x 1152 pixels and it can't be over 6MB. You can contact YouTube customer service if you have questions about banner requirements.

Edit YouTube Banner on a Mobile Device

You can edit your channel banner on mobile devices too. To get started, download the YouTube app or the YouTube Studio app. (The YouTube Studio app is designed for people who post videos regularly and isn't necessary for every user).

Using the YouTube App

  • Open the app and tap on your profile picture in the top right corner
  • Tap Your channel, then Edit Channel
  • Tap the edit icon next to your channel banner
  • You can upload a picture or take a new one, then tap Save

Using the YouTube Studio App

  • Open the app and tap on your profile picture at the top right corner
  • Tap Your channel, then Edit Channel
  • Tap on your banner image
  • You can take a new photo or upload one, then tap Save

Banner changes might take a few minutes to update across YouTube. You can contact YouTube's customer support team if your banner doesn't update after tapping Save.
