To return an unsatisfactory Target purchase, you must have the unopened item and your receipt. You may bring your item, its packaging, and the receipt to the customer service desk of any Target store. If you made your purchase online, navigate either the website or the app to begin the return process.
If you purchased an item from Target and find yourself unhappy with it, you have several options to obtain a refund from Target.
Your purchase must be within the past 90 days, be unopened, and you must have your receipt in order to receive a full refund. Some items have a modified return policy. In this case, you can find the return policy printed on your receipt, packing slip, or online order confirmation.
If your purchase is a Target Owned Brand item, or was purchased for you via Target's wedding or baby registry systems, you have up to a full year to return it for a refund.
If your purchase was from the electronics or entertainment departments, you have thirty days to obtain a refund. If you purchased a mobile phone, you have fourteen days to obtain a refund. If you purchased an Apple product (excluding phones), you have fifteen days to obtain a refund.
If you purchased the item with a Target RedCard debit or credit card, you have an extra thirty days to return most items.
You cannot return: open music, movies, video games, or software; open airbeds, open or defective collectibles, personalized items, pre-paid gift cards, or digital downloads. In the case of music, movies, video games, software, or airbeds, you may be entitled to an exchange in lieu of a refund.
If you do not have your receipt with you, Target has several ways to confirm your purchase. Purchases using a credit or debit card or check can be looked up in the store's system. The Target app and Target online stores keep records of your purchases as well. Even if you don't have a receipt, you may receive store credit or an exchange.
You may return your item to any Target store, including items purchased online. Simply bring your item, in its packaging, and your receipt to the store's customer service desk. A customer service agent can help you complete the return there.
If your purchase was made online, begin by logging back into your Target account, using either the web browser portal or mobile app. Access either Orders (on the website) or Purchases (via the app). Select your order, then select "Return an Item."
You have the option to return in store. Selecting this option provides you with a barcode, which will help the customer service representative at the store process your return more quickly.
If you select to return your item by mail, you will be asked to provide a reason for the return. You can also choose to have your item replaced, or receive a refund. Once you have completed this process, you will then receive a printing label. Repackage your item and drop it off at any authorized UPS store.
If your item was delivered by FedEx or Estes Freight Worldwide (EFW), your process is slightly different. You may still return your item to any Target store. If you prefer to mail the item back, contact Target Customer Service to begin the return process and schedule a pickup.
GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Target in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our How Do I Get a Refund from Target? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
