How Do I Return T-Mobile Equipment After I've Canceled?

T-Mobile is among the four telecommunication behemoths in the United States. Their range of services include call, text, data and they also sell phones.

When you cancel your T-Mobile service, you will be required to return their equipment in good condition or risk paying a mountain of fees. With that said, it would be much better if you knew the company's equipment return policy.

T-Mobile Return Policy

You should return the equipment as promptly as possible. If T-Mobile does not receive your equipment within 30 days of returning it, you will be charged a non-return fee.

The good news is that returning equipment to T-Mobile is free of shipping and restocking fees. On the other hand, T-Mobile will check on the state of the devices once they get them and if they are damaged extensively or missing parts, they will charge you a damage fee. The charges will depend on the replacement cost of the device.

If you are going to return the equipment to a T-Mobile store, you had better do so within 14 days of cancelling your service. You also have the same amount of time to return the equipment if you bought it from an authorized third-party dealer. However, you should note that the third party may have their own return policies which you will have to follow.

The device must also be returned in its original packaging. It should also have no material modifications whatsoever for T-Mobile to accept the return.

Returning the Equipment

You have several options as far as returning your equipment to T-Mobile is concerned. The options include:

Return to a T-Mobile Store

The simplest and least cumbersome way to return equipment to T-Mobile is to return the devices to a T-Mobile store. However, to return the equipment to a mobile store, you should not have started a return order online.

If you have already started a return order, then you will have to send the equipment to T-Mobile through the mail or suing a carrier.

You probably know a T-Mobile store near you but if you do not, you can use one T-Mobile's store locator to find the store nearest to you. You can then easily return the equipment to a customer service representative at the store.

When you do take the equipment to the store, you should ensure that you bring all the necessary equipment with you.

Return via Mail

You can send your equipment through the post office if you desire. However, you will first need to contact T-Mobile customer service before doing so.

The customer service agent you speak to will send you a return shipping label which you will print and attach to the box in which the equipment will be stored. It is important to clarify whether you are a business customer or an individual one.

You will have to pay for the shipping label and it will be sent to you within 24 hours of making payment. It will include the address to which you will be sending the equipment. All you have to do is print it and attach it to the box.

Sending the package by mail also means that you can use a carrier to get the package to the designated address. T-Mobile recommends using UPS but you can use other carriers including FedEx.

Using a carrier allows you to track the package till it reaches its destination. However, it will be more expensive than the US Mail.

If all else fails or you have trouble using the above methods, please contact T-Mobile customer support immediately. You will find their contact information here.
