If you're a DirecTV customer experiencing an internet or cell service outage, follow these simple steps to check for reports of known outages in your area.
DirecTV is an American broadcast satellite service provider of direct television. The company was founded in 1994 and is based out of El Segundo, California. DirecTV has customers throughout the United States, the Caribbean, and Latin America. The organization is a subsidiary of parent company AT&T. If you are a current DirecTV customer and need to check if there's a service outage, follow the steps outlined below.
As DirecTV is a subsidiary for AT&T, you can check for outages on the AT&T website.
Under 'Find outages in your ZIP code' click on 'Check for outages.'
Enter your zip code and select 'Check for Outages.'
The next page will show you if there are any outages in your area.
You can call into the DirecTV's customer service line, provide your address or zip code, and ask if there have been any reported outages in your area.
If you prefer not to speak over the phone, you can reach out to DirecTV's customer service team via live chat. Provide your zip code or address and ask if there have been any reports of outages in the area.
You can also check DirecTV's Twitter page to see if they have mentioned an outage in an area or if you see other people tweeting at them about a service outage. Alternatively, you can message them on Twitter to ask about your specific area.
If you're not signed into Twitter, you will have to sign in now. Select 'Log In' in the top right corner and sign in to your account with your phone number, email address, or username, as well as your password.
Once you have signed in, select the little mail icon on the DirecTV Twitter profile. This will take you to your direct messages inbox and allow you to send a message directly to the company. Make sure to provide your zip code or address and ask about service outages. A direct message is a private message so others won't be able to see.
If you prefer, you can tweet to DirecTV, which will be public for everyone to see. On the left side of the screen, select the 'Tweet' button. Type up your message after the '@DirecTV' that is automatically inputted into your Tweet. Note that as this tweet is public, do not provide your address. Instead, ask about service outages in your zip code or your area.
As each company approaches social media differently, there is no guarantee that DirecTV will respond to you via Twitter.
GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like DirecTV in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our How Do I Check If There's a DirecTV Internet or Cell Service Outage? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
