Xfinity's Early Termination Fee

Xfinity’s early termination fee (ETF) is prorated and typically decreases by about $10–$20 each month. The closer you are to the end of your service agreement, the lower the fee will be. This fee applies if you cancel your service before your minimum term ends.

Be sure to return all rented equipment when canceling your service to avoid additional charges.

If you’re canceling because you’re moving, consider transferring your Xfinity service instead. If service is available at your new address, you can transfer your account and continue your agreement without interruption.

Return the Rented Xfinity Equipment at an Xfinity Store

If you plan to cancel your Xfinity service, make sure to return any rented equipment to avoid additional charges. The good news is that equipment returns are free.

For faster processing, return your equipment to the nearest Xfinity Store. Use the Find an Xfinity Store tool on the website and book an appointment at your preferred location. Just enter your address and book an appointment.

If you can’t visit a physical store, you can print a return label and drop off your equipment at a UPS location. You may also be able to schedule a home pickup. To print a return label, sign in to your account, go to the Equipment Return page, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Note: Xfinity may charge fees for equipment that is returned damaged or not in working condition. The replacement cost varies depending on the type of equipment.

Did you download or purchase any titles with your Xfinity plan? Don’t worry, you can still keep your purchased content even after canceling your service. To watch them, go to xfinity.com/stream and sign in using your primary ID and password.

Customers who cancel their Xfinity service may also continue using their Comcast.net email address, as long as they signed in to their account within 90 days before disconnecting. To keep your email active, be sure to log in at least once every nine months.

After canceling your service, you can restart it at any time. Simply contact Xfinity or check available offers online to get started.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Comcast Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
