When you call PECO Energy's customer service phone number, you're greeted by an automated message system and immediately presented with a Spanish language option, which is great. After pausing for a couple of seconds, you're told that a lot of information regarding the company is available online.
This is a pet peeve of mine, as I imagine most people calling are aware a company's website exists and are calling because the assistance they seek isn't readily available. Although, perhaps this is me being oblivious to the experiences of less technologically familiar individuals. I'm sure there are those calling who appreciate the information and/or reminder, but I digress.
After this, you're told to stay on the line for assistance if you would still like to speak to someone rather than switch over to the website, then presented with a standard phone menu: press 1 if you smell gas or need to report a gas emergency; press 2 for electrical issues or power outages; press 3 if you would like to make a payment; press 4 for everything else.
If you don't make a selection, the phone menu will automatically repeat. If you don't make a selection after it repeats, you're presented with a different phone menu. Press 1 to access your account via your account number; press 2 to access your account via your phone number; or press 3 if you're looking to create a new account.
If you don't make a selection after this phone menu is presented, you're either transferred to a representative (I assume) or informed you're calling after business hours (which I was, and hence why I made my previous assumption). The automated message system says you're still able to use several functions, such as making a payment, automatically despite calling outside of business hours. That's good, at least!
I wasn't able to get through to a rep, but that's on me for calling too late in the day.
