What are the hours and when should I call?

Qantas Airlines operates the call center for this 800-227-4500 phone number 24 hours, 7 days. The short answer is that you should call on a Wednesday. This observation and the following section are based on analysis of a sample set of 232 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).

Automatically call when they open

When you use our free AI-powered phone to call and talk, wait on hold, or navigate for you, it will automatically wait until the Qantas Airlines call center opens before trying to call. It will ask your permission before it places the call, so you can also further delay that scheduled call until you are ready. But that means you can "set it and forget it" ahead of time.
An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this Qantas Airlines phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like Qantas Airlines staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.

The least busy time to call

The least busy day to call Qantas Airlines is Saturday. The most busy day to call is Monday, which averages 105% more phone calls by comparison. Again, this is based on a sample of 232 calls made with our AI-powered, web-based phone in the last 90 days.

Calling this Qantas Airlines Customer Number

When you call the customer service line for Qantas Airlines, you're greeted by an automated message system. There aren't any alternative language options; rather, it immediately asks you to enter your Qantas frequent flyer membership number, or press the star key if you don't know it. Oddly, there aren't any other options presented. If you don't make a selection, the recording will repeat for three cycles, then present a more proper phone menu (which is again odd, but okay).

Press the star key for ACCC remediation; press 1 for flight credit(s), Qantas Pass, or to check the status of a refund; press 2 for existing bookings; press 3 for new bookings; press 4 for frequent flyer, Qantas Club, Qantas Money, insurance, and marketplace; press 5 for all other concerns, such as baggage or feedback.

I'm personally unfamiliar with the Qantas Club, Qantas Money, insurance, and marketplace; I assume they're perks for frequent flyers, but I'm not sure. As a new customer and first-time caller, I would've appreciated a bit more information on these Qantas Airlines-specific programs.

Aside from that, I don't understand why I had to wait for the opening phone menu to repeat for three cycles before being taken to a second, and proper, customer service phone menu. Once there, I was able to select the option for new bookings and go from there; the automated system just didn't make the process of reaching a representative particularly easy or straightforward.

The rep I spoke to was okay; I don't have anything to complain about. He was professional and helpful. Although he did direct me to Qantas Airlines' website, which is a bit of a pet peeve of mine (I know companies have websites, I am choosing to call for a reason), but I imagine it's a standard and ultimately helpful piece of advice for many callers, especially seniors.
