Calling NewEgg's customer number is supposed to only work for people who have placed an order with NewEgg and need assistance. However, there is a hack to get to an agent without having an order number.
When I dialed this number, I was connected to Frank, NewEgg's automated assistant. Frank immediately said that my phone number was not connected to a NewEgg account and asked me to provide the number connected to my NewEgg account. Not having one, I said I did not have one. Frank said it did not recognize that response and asked me to provide my order number.
Again, I didn't have one and said that I didn't have one. This time, Frank again didn't recognize the response and asked me to provide the order number again. Not seeing another option, I simply responded, "No." Stunningly, this actually got me past Frank and moved to customer service. After about two minutes, I was connected with an actual human customer representative, who asked how she could assist me.
I told her I was not a NewEgg customer and was looking for information about my next computer. I said I was a writer who used my computer a lot, and I wanted to know how many gigabytes of RAM I would need for my next machine. She said that with what it sounded like I'd need, 32 GB of RAM would be the minimum number that she would look for.
She then asked if I was looking at any specific model, and I told her I was not that far in my search yet. She said that without having a model in mind, she couldn't really offer more specific knowledge than that, as I was too early in my process for her to provide more assistance.
I said that I understood; I simply wanted to make sure that I didn't ask my next computer to do too much and wanted to plan ahead as much as I could. She said that 8 GB would definitely not be enough, while 16 GB could work with certain models, but would also probably not be enough for someone like me. I thanked her for the information, and she thanked me for calling and wished me a pleasant day.
Overall, I was impressed with the customer service I got. The automated system is meant to help the average NewEgg customer, but having a hack to get past it ensures that anyone can at least get some assistance. When I was able to get one-on-one help, I found the customer service rep friendly, knowledgeable and just pleasant to deal with. She gave the best opinion she could, didn't try to sound like a know-it-all and answered my questions honestly.
If I were a genuine NewEgg customer, I would absolutely feel comfortable using this number to get customer service.

GetHuman does not provide call center services or customer support operations for Newegg. The two organizations are not related. GetHuman builds free tools and shares information to help customers of companies like Newegg. For large companies that includes tools such as our GetHuman Phone, which allows you to call a company but skip the part where you wait on the line to get a live human rep. We continue to work on these tools to help customers like you (and ourselves!) navigate the messy phone menus, hold times, and confusion with customer service. As long as you keep sharing it with your friends and loved ones, we'll keep doing it.
