With approximately two billion users, WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps on the market. People use the Facebook owned application to text, talk and video chat with family and friends around the world. If you are a WhatsApp user, you enjoy the convenience of free talk and text to your loved ones, but sometimes you might notice that WhatsApp doesn't appear to be working properly. Why is WhatsApp not sending messages to one person on your contact list? For assistance, you can reach out to WhatsApp user support here, or you can keep reading for reasons your messages may not be going through.

How to Determine Status of a Sent Message

WhatsApp equips users with a simple means of seeing if a message has been sent, delivered and read. By use of check marks, you can see what has happened with your sent message in most cases. One check mark means the message was sent. Two check marks means it was delivered successfully. When the double check marks turn blue, that is an indication the recipient has read your messages.

Why Messages Are Not Sent

While most times your messages will reach the intended recipient, there may be times WhatsApp doesn't send your messages. Here are some common reasons your message is not being sent:

  1. Your WhatsApp has frozen and isn't working properly. In this case, you may need to shut down your phone completely and restart it. This will reset all your apps and may help WhatsApp perform properly again. Additionally, you may need to uninstall then reinstall your WhatsApp to reset it.
  2. The intended recipient may have blocked your number. If your number has been blocked by the recipient, WhatsApp will not send the message.
  3. You do not have a good Wi-Fi or data signal on your device. If your connection is poor, WhatsApp will not work properly and your messages will not be sent until you are in a better reception area.
  4. You still need to complete the verification process on your device. If you haven't completed this, WhatsApp will not work properly. Make sure you have completed the verification process to fully enjoy your app.
  5. When you entered the contact in your app, you entered the number incorrectly. This will prevent it from being properly sent through WhatsApp.

These are the most common reasons WhatsApp is not sending your messages. If you are experiencing difficulty sending messages on WhatsApp, and restarting your device or reinstalling the app is not correcting the issue, reach out to user support here.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for WhatsApp Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like WhatsApp in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our Why Is WhatsApp Not Sending Messages to One Person? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
