What are the hours and when should I call?

Family Mobile operates the call center for this 877-760-8760 phone number 6am-9pm PST.  The short answer is that you should call on a Friday. This observation and the following section are based on analysis of a sample set of 1,892 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).
An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this Family Mobile phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like Family Mobile staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.

Calling this Family Mobile Customer Number

2025-03-10T00:00:00.000Z

This phone number isn't used to actually get customer service. Instead, it's used to set up a line through Wal-Mart's Family Mobile Program, either by adding a new number, transferring an existing one or adding a line to an existing account.

However, before you actually get to that point in the call, you need to select Family Mobile as your option, because this number appears to take you to a call center with several options. You can use this number for several other prepaid phone plans, including Tracfone and Straight Talk wireless. This number serves as the activation option for at least six different wireless phone companies, and you'll have to wait until option six before you can press 6 to get assistance from Family Mobile.

Once you've connected with Family Mobile, you're presented with three options. You can either activate a phone with new phone number, transfer your existing phone number to a different phone or add a line to an existing account that you've already set up with a different phone and phone number. Either way, no option is presented for you to get information or to speak with a human representative. Your only option beyond those three setup options is to return to the previous menu and select a different company to connect with.

Overall, I thought this number was bare bones but to the point. If you're simply getting a phone set up, you don't need a lot of options. I don't love that customers have to wait through several companies to get to the one they actually need, but I do understand that having only one number can save time and money for companies that perform similar work. With nobody needed to provide assistance, having one number does work. Given that this is for activation, I would use this number if needed.
