Yesterday I went to target and was highly embarrassed and disappointed in my experience. On October *st **** I bought a $***.** spetrum breast bump because my pump stopped working temporarily. I have a infant at home that is exclusively breast-feeding with a poor appetite and formula is not a option for her. When my pump stopped working I immediately got in my car and drove ** minutes to my nearest target. I use target for all my mom needs. Later on that night My previous pump began working so I left the spectrum pump in the target bag and told myself when I was on that side of town again. On ******* I tried to began the processes of returning the unopened spectrum breast pump but the customer service associate told me to bring in the card the item was purchased on. so I thanked him for his time and picked up a few things I needed for my house. On ********** I called target (the Mt Dora location) to just Reiterate what the associate told me previously since I have my infant and covid, I just wanted to double check what I was told the day before. I Let them know I didn't have the receipt and asked if In fact i did just need the card the pump was purchased on the associate reassured me that the information I was given was true and to proceed. I went into Target ******* around * pm to do as I was instructed. I even looked up my debit card statement on my online banking app just Incase They Insisted on more proof. This shows the store it was purchased at and the date I bought the pump & the card I bought it on as well. An older woman was first helping me. She asked for the pump and the debit card. Once my debit card went into the machine, she proceeded to say she could not find the purchase. She then asked if that was the card I purchased on. Which yes, it was. So she tried doing it with my driver's license. She said she could not give me the *** dollars on a gift card for store credit because it was over the ** dollar limit and I was then told they could do nothinG She looked at me for * minutes expecting me to leave, I felt like. So I asked for a manager, and she seemed reluctant to call one. Once the manager came after about ** minutes, she looked over the item seen the pump with the seal remaining untouched , unopened and tried the process again. The older woman began talking over the managers shoulder at me insisting I probably paid in cash or a different card and implying The information I was giving her for the last ** minutes was not correct at this point I began to pull out my online virtual banking statement of my debit card transactions to show them proof that my information that I was sharing for the last ** minutes was in fact true. The manager then asked for my driver licenses again, and the older women proceeded to chime in over the manager That it was not possible due to the amount of money. I then ask them if they could do multiple gift cards since they are only able to go up to ** dollars. The older lady then proceeded to tell me to go to the department and find another item That I liked for *** dollars to exchange it for this item. I told them I didn’t need another item for ***.**. At this time Another team member takes the time to walks up and over look the situation and say “maybe you exchange too many things,” which made me feel degraded. I had two woman behind and a man mean while my infant is crying because of the amount of time She has been in the stroller in the store. The older lady then asked over the managers shoulder “ So how many items have you returned to the store ? I replied I’ve only exchanged diapers from my baby shower I had gotten as a gift but the diapers were the incorrect size so I traded them for the correct size. The manager proceeded to say she couldn't do anything for me, and I would just have to find the receipt or keep the pump. I then showed them my virtual bank statement again providing the time the date and the store location along with the price of the item and the item. The older lady then says “the target receipt “ louder then before. The manager then says I could try selling the breast pump on craigslist instead she then questioned me how didn’t I know I could get a free breast pump through insurance and why I spent *** dollars on a breast pump. I told them that I was a first time mom & I didn’t know about insurance or any of that all I knew was I needed a breast pump so my infant could eat. Im shocked by how I was treated I drove ** minutes to be degraded and told to “go on Craigslist “ or asked why I spent such a great amount of money at their place of business. I’m appalled employees were speaking for the manager was mind blown the manager could do “nothing for me “ and was sad because I Had bought from that store for the last * years & spent hundreds of dollars only to try to return * expensive item and was treated like trash.
