Hello**I wanted to write to share some of my recent experiences regarding employment at Target at the Cedar Crest store in Allentown, Pennsylvania. I am hoping my feedback and concerns can be directed to the appropriate place.**I recently applied for a seasonal position at the store and had a great interview and was offered a position as a floor associate. Because I work a summer seasonal job as a Merchandise Team Lead at a local amusement park, I was told I’d be a great fit for a position at Target. I was excited about this position and eager to make extra money for the holidays. When I interviewed, I explained I would not be able to work one weekend for sure due to a previous commitment and that I had another job I would need to give adequate notice to in order to leave. I was working part time as an associate at Macy’s, on a few nights and weekends. Part of the reason I took the Target job was it paid more and offered more hours. It was stressed that this was totally understood that I would need to give them notice to leave and that my scheduling would work around the current job until I could leave it. **On my orientation day, on Friday December **th, we were told we could not change availability within the first ** days. I explained to the person doing the training I had a previous job and I would not be able to work my full availability until I finished this job within accordance to the two-week notice policy required. The person doing the training said she understood that and my schedule would reflect that.**At the end of orientation, I was handed a hand written schedule. The schedule did not reflect the fact that I could not work any nights until my current job ended. It also had me on both weekend days and a Tuesday night in direct conflict to the other job (this past weekend was my last weekend there). I explained I could not do those hours and the schedule was taken from me and I was told it would be changed. On Sunday, the only change that would have to been made was shifting the times ahead by an hour. I expected to be contacted with a new schedule. The person training me assured me they would fix it and let me know of the changes. This never happened throughout the weekend. **Since I did not hear from the store all weekend, I visited on Monday the **th and explained I couldn’t wait for a schedule. I was told to refer to my printed schedule and I explained it was never returned to me at orientation. I was then told I NCNS the two weekend days and because that was against policy, I didn’t have a job anymore. I have never NCNS from any job. I show up for work and have an excellent attendance record at all of my past jobs. I was under the impression and understanding it was known I was not able to come in for the weekend shifts and I would be contacted with a new schedule. I am also very frustrated because this conflict was told to no less than three managers, and it was still messed up and I am being blamed. I can understand the store wanting people to work to their full availabilities, but it is common courtesy to finish out employment at another job and work your remaining shifts, especially since it was a retail job also and busy for the holiday season. I also understand the seriousness of NCNS as I work in a leadership retail position in the summer months and deal with it a lot, but I told several people I could not work the shifts in question and was told it was be adjusted and corrected. I trusted that to happen and it apparently didn’t.**I am very disappointed in this. This was poor communication and a big misunderstanding. I invested quite a bit of time to be an employee of Target and had given notice to my previous job in order to take the position at Target. Now I don’t have any job to go to. I was counting on these hours and this job for the holiday season. I feel I was not given the opportunity to even show my potential at the store. I have experience as a Team Lead at a busy retail establishment and my experience would have been greatly beneficial on the sales floor to Target. I am still open to working something out if it can be, but understand if it cannot.
