My Instagram account was hacked. I opened the app and it said I had been logged out. When I tried to log back in, it said my account didn’t exist. But all my followers still see my photos, and someone named “heijigi” now has control over my account. I was able to see a Russian-based email address “associated” with the account. I have reported the account as an impostor and at least * of my friends have also reported it. Instagram finally emailed me a code and told me to send a photo of myself holding the code handwritten on a piece of paper. I followed all the specifications in the email and sent the photo to them. They said they could not verify the account was mine and therefore couldn’t help me. I have screenshots with my picture and my username, and the account has been repeatedly reported. I can’t talk to an actual person to resolve this and some weirdo Russian has control over my account and my photos - mostly of my children!!! My settings were set to private and I wasn’t connected to anyone I don’t know personally. I would like the account restored to me but if that can’t happen they should at least remove it. I don’t want “heijigi” and its followers seeing pictures of my kids.
