If you are looking to apply for a payment arrangement be sure to pay attention to the payment extension dates and deadlines. If you are willing to wait on hold then you should call into the IRS and they will work with you one on one to set up a payment arrangement that fits your needs. You can call customer support at the IRS using 800-829-1040. Once you call press 1 for English then wait for the recording to end. Press 2 then 1 then 3 then 2. The recording will then ask for your social security number you can just press 0# it will ask again then press 0# and finally press 2 once it asks you a question. You will be told your wait time and a representative will pick up to help you.

I am on the IRS Direct Pay Plan. On **** an on-line payment was made to the IRS for $**.** with funds being withdrawn from my checking account. I received an email from the IRS stating the payment was rejected because of an invalid account and to resubmit the payment which I did using my debit card. Per my bank, both payments were debited from my account. I’ve been on the phone with the IRS all day and can’t get anyone to help me.
