I am visiting home for the first time in months. My mother booked a round trip ticket from CLT toEWR, with a return flight on Sunday, October ** at *:** am. The confirmation was sent to my email address. As I was pulling up my ticket on my phone, I was made aware that my mother accidentally booked the flight back to NC on Sunday at *:** am instead of Monday at *:** am. An extra day with my family is necessary, as I will not be able to return for Thanksgiving, Or Christmas. My grandmother is in the hospital. I cannot afford to spend $*** on a change fee. We noticed this issue around ** hours after the flight was booked, so it is incredibly upsetting. I do not get to see my family often. I called yesterday and spoke to a couple of people, all of which were not helpful or compassionate, even if they were unable to change my flight. It is also worthy to note that more seats are available on the Monday flight than the Sunday flight, making my seat on the Sunday flight more valuable. I am an AAdvantage member, and was someone that stood by American Airlines. This has changed in the past several hours. The heartlessness of this company and inability to accept extenuating circumstances proves that this company is all in it for the money rather than its customers. I will never fly American again. My extended family, composed of nearly ** people, will back me as well. And all of my social media accounts will be littered with reasons as to why American Airlines is not an airline that anyone should use. It is so disheartening after using an airline for years, to have to part ways because of something as silly as this. Because of the company’s lack of concern, this is a decision that I must make.
