What Is VRBO's Coronavirus Change or Cancellation Policy?

Before traveling, check the Sherpa tool for any travel restrictions at your departure destination. Consider buying travel insurance just in case you're diagnosed with Covid. For cancellations, make sure you understand the policy set by the host as that can still apply even when you get sick from Covid. Refunds can take up to five days.

Vrbo advises its users to use Sherpa + Vrbo tool to check for any travel restrictions due to Covid. Don't forget to also check the departure destination for any restrictions. Consider purchasing travel insurance as well, just in case you get sick due to Covid-19. Some travel insurance companies may be able to provide coverage when you get sick with Covid. Make sure you also read and fully understand the host's cancellation policy as it may still apply even if you have Covid-19.

Canceling Your Trip

Read the cancellation policy first before canceling your reservation. Hosts usually determine the cancellation policy of their own listing. They may allow cancellations 14 days before check-in while other hosts don't offer a refund policy.

Below are the steps to cancel your reservation:

Mobile

1. Open the Vrbo app and log in to your account.

2. Go to Trips and choose the booking you want to cancel.

3. Click Cancel and read the cancellation policy.

4. If you don't have other concerns, tap Cancel Booking.

Desktop

1. Log in to your account, select your account and click My Trips.

2. Click the booking you want to cancel.

3. Navigate to the Details tab and click Cancel Trip.

4. Read and understand the cancellation policy before clicking Cancel Booking.

You may select Request cancellation if you don't see the Cancel booking option. Contact the host if you don't get a response within 24 hours.

The refunds can take up to five days after confirmation. If the reservation was charged in a different currency, the total refund you receive will depend on the current exchange rates and other fees issued by your bank. Contact your bank if you have questions regarding the exchange rates.

For guests with insurance, your travel insurance refund will be processed by the insurance company. Contact Generali Travel Protection if you have questions about your travel insurance. For other issues with Vrbo's cancellation policy, contact Customer Support.
