T-Mobile is one of the largest data, text and cell service providers in the US. The company has incredible data plans and device deals.

As much as T-Mobile coverage improves, outages are still common. Outages can result from many sources including DNS problems, lack of setting updates and even a damaged service tower.

Here is what you should do if you cannot connect to the T-Mobile network:

Check Your Device

You would save yourself a lot of trouble by not calling customer support and instead checking that a setting on our device is not the reason for the connectivity issues.

Common troubleshooting solutions should be applied first such as switching your device off and then on again. Removing any cases or covers may also help.

You should ensure that Airplane mode on your device is switched off and data roaming is turned off in your device settings. Network mode should also be switched to 'Auto.'

Check if cell data is on and then reset your network settings and check for settings updates. Check if your SIM card is properly inserted and that it is not loose.

Changing Wi-Fi Calling preferences to 'Cellular Preferred' or 'Cellular Only' might prevent Wi-Fi Calling issues from interfering with the service signal.

If all the above are in the correct order, you may have to enable Wi-Fi calling if you are connected to another network so that you can remain connected.

Check T-Mobile's Outage Report

If the problem is not with your device, then you should check T-Mobile's service coverage map to see if there is an outage in your area. Sites like downdector.com and Outage.Report are perfect for this as they report service outages across the country.

You can see reported outages from the past 20 minutes to the past few months. You will also be able to see a heatmap of all the areas experiencing service outages at that time. Moreover, there is a color-coded history of previous network issues reported over the past few months.

If you are experiencing an outage in your area, you should report it using the 'It's not working for me' feature. The report can state that there is no service where it was previously, and the level signal strength would help. You can also report that the service has always been poor. Both reports could result in service enhancements in your area.

If you have experienced the destruction of a T-Mobile cell tower as a result of natural disaster or human malice, then you should also report it as soon as possible. In fact, you may be the reason that it gets repaired helping out many people experiencing the outage.
