If you recently logged into your Robinhood account and found that the balance is too low or if you can't even log into your account at all, you may be the victim of hacking. There are a few things you can do to recover your account, and you should do them as quickly as possible.

Changing Your Password

First, change your password so the hacker can no longer access your account. You can do this even if the hacker has already changed your password and you can't log in anymore. Just go to the login page and click on the Forgot Password option. Robinhood will send you an email with a link to change your password.

Changing Your Email Address

Because the hacker may have access to the email associated with your Robinhood account, you should change your email address as well. Otherwise, the hacker will just change your password and lock you out of your account. To change your email address online, follow this procedure:

  1. Click on the Account icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
  2. Click on Settings.
  3. Click on your email address.
  4. Enter a new email address.

To change your email address with the Robinhood app, follow this procedure:

  1. Tap on the Account icon at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap on the three bars icon in the upper right corner.
  3. Tap on Settings.
  4. Tap on Account Information.
  5. Tap on Email Address.
  6. Follow the prompts to change your email address.

Reporting the Problem

After you secure your account by changing the password and email, report the incident to a Robinhood customer service representative. You have to use the help forum to do so, because there aren't any other customer service contact options. You should contact them during normal business hours, as you may need to speak to people from multiple departments.
