If you have finished running the marketing campaign you were doing through Mailchimp, then you may want to close your Mailchimp account. If your main concern about Mailchimp is the cost when you aren't actively running a campaign, there are other options you could use to save money. These options include pausing your account and purchasing Pay as You Go credits.
Mailchimp is an online marketing platform for small businesses. If your Mailchimp marketing campaign has run its course or if you no longer need Mailchimp's services for some other reason, it's easy to close your account.
After your account is deleted, all of your data will be removed from Mailchimp's system and can't be recovered. Before you close your Mailchimp account, back up any important data saved on it.
As an alternative to deleting your account and losing your data, you can pause it, which will stop monthly billing. You can then reactivate it when you are ready to start another marketing campaign. You can also switch to buying Pay as You Go credits if you don't want to be billed while you aren't actively using Mailchimp's services.
If you have an outstanding balance on your account, you will have to pay it off before you can close your account.
To completely close your Mailchimp account, just follow these instructions:
1. Go to Mailchimp's home page.
2. Sign into your account.
3. Click on the profile icon.
4. Click on Account.
5. Click on Settings.
6. Choose Delete Account from the drop-down menu.
7. Click on Permanently Delete This Account.
8. Click on Continue. You will be taken to an exit survey.
9. Take the survey. You will be given a chance to talk with customer service about options other than deleting your account if you choose Too Expensive as your reason for closing your account.
10. Enter your password.
11. Click on Permanently Delete. A confirmation pop-up will appear.
12. Type DELETE in the pop-up.
13. Click on Delete Your Account.
A confirmation message should appear to confirm that your account is closed.
If you need any help closing your account or if you have any questions, you can contact Mailchimp's customer service. There is no phone support, but there are email and help desk support options.
GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like MailChimp in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our How Do I Cancel My MailChimp Account? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
