If I Don't Claim a WalMart Gift Card, What Happens?

Walmart gift cards never expire, but it's recommended you use them or add them to your account. Any unclaimed gift cards can still be used at a future date. If you have an old gift card without a PIN, you will need to visit the Walmart store to exchange that with a gift card that contains a PIN. Walmart gift cards can be used to purchase items at official Walmart stores.

Walmart gift cards have no expiration dates. Any unclaimed gift cards can still be used at a future date. Keep in mind, though, that Walmart gift cards aren't reloadable. But if you lose a gift card that hasn't been redeemed yet, you may contact Walmart Customer Support so they can cancel the previous gift card and provide you with a new gift card for the same value.

You can have up to five gift cards saved to your Walmart account. Any unsaved gift cards can still be used to purchase things online, but you will have to provide the gift card number and PIN at checkout.

Viewing Your Gift Card Balance

If you have a physical card, scratch off the card's silver coating on the back to get the 16-digit card number and PIN you need to check the balance. For egift cards, the PIN is found in your confirmation email. For those with gift cards that don't have a PIN, you'll need to visit the Walmart store to exchange your gift card with a PIN.

To check the balance, go to the Check Gift Card Balance page at Walmart and enter the 16-digit card number and the 4-digit PIN. Click the Check Balance. Keep in mind that the gift card balance you see online or by calling the hotline is only an estimate. Balances are adjusted immediately, but there may be times when the updated balance is delayed. In this case, you may use a different gift card to cover the entire purchase or use another payment method. If you have questions about Walmart gift cards, contact Customer Support.

And if you spot any issues with our If I Don't Claim a WalMart Gift Card, What Happens? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
