If you have purchased something from Walmart that you now wish to return, you are likely eligible for a refund. Follow these steps to get a refund from Walmart when returning an item in-store or online.

Walmart is an international major grocery retailer. Founded in 1962 with headquarters in Arkansas, the company has locations in America, Canada, and Mexico. Additionally, it has stores under different names in the United Kingdom, Japan, India, Argentina, Chile, and South Africa.

Walmart has a relatively relaxed return policy for most of its items, as long as items are returned in a decent condition. If you have recently purchased an item online or in-person from Walmart and want a refund, follow the steps as outlined below.

Contact Walmart for Refund Information

Before you go ahead with returning your item, it may be helpful to call Walmart's Customer Support Team and ask some clarifying questions. Ask if your item is eligible for a full or partial refund, if you need to pay for shipping when returning, and how the refund will be credited (store credit versus payment onto your original payment method). After you get your answers, you can proceed with returning the item online or in a Walmart location.

Return an Item Online

  1. Go to www.walmart.com

  2. Click on the person icon in the top right corner.

  3. Click on 'Sign In.'

  4. Sign in to your account with your email address and password.

  5. Go to 'View Orders.'

  6. Select the product you want to return and print the return label.

  7. Ship the product back to Walmart. You will be notified via email when your return has been processed and when your refund will be issued.

Return an Item In-Store

If you purchased an item online or in-store, you can visit a local Walmart and try to return it.

  1. Go to https://www.walmart.com/store/finder

  2. Enter a ZIP code or city, state and press enter.

  3. You will be shown a list of Walmarts in your area. Note the store hours before planning a trip to the store.

  4. Ask the customer service representative to process your refund. Make sure to take a copy of the receipt so you have proof the refund was processed.
