How Do I Send a Wire from My Truist Bank Account?

Jul 13, 2023

If you have a Truist bank account and need to quickly send a relatively large amount of money to an account at another bank, you should send a wire transfer. This article will tell you everything you need to know about it.

Wire Transfer Basics

A wire transfer is one of the two basic types of electronic transfer between banks. The other type is the ACH transfer. While ACH transfers get processed in large batches by clearinghouses, wire transfers don't. Instead, they go directly from one bank to another. That's why they're the fastest type of transfer. They will usually arrive on the same day they are sent, frequently within minutes of sending. You do, however, pay for this speed in the form of a wire transfer fee. That's why wire transfers are best for situations where speed is of the essence and the amount you are sending is large enough to justify the fee.

How to Send a Wire Transfer From Your Truist Account

Truist does not have any online method for sending wire transfers. You will instead need to call a Truist customer service representative or go down to a convenient Truist location in person. You will need to bring the following information with you when you do:

  • Your bank's routing number
  • Your bank's street address
  • Your street address
  • Your Truist account number
  • The recipient's name
  • The recipient's bank's name
  • The recipient's bank's street address
  • The recipient's account number

Please note that international wire transfers typically take longer than domestic wire transfers do. If your international transfer involves converting from one form of currency into another, it is possible that the exchange rate will no longer be what it was when you decided to make the transfer.

Contacting Truist

To get the wire transfer process started, or to just find out what the current wire transfer fees are, call a Truist representative. There is no online way to get in contact with one.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Truist Bank Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
