Introduction

Do you have a Premium, Duo or Spotify Family plan? You can cancel your paid Spotify subscription in just a few steps. We'll provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to cancel your Spotify subscription. There are two ways to cancel your paid account, which we'll discuss in this guide. You can no longer download music without a paid plan, but you can still listen to your playlist on shuffle and with ads. Continue reading if you still want to cancel.

Fill Out a Form

There are two ways to cancel your paid account with Spotify: by filling out a form or by logging in to your account. To fill out a form, use this link: https://www.spotify.com/us/signed-out/cancel/

You'll see a Cancel Subscription page. All you have to do is fill out the required fields.

Click Cancel Now

After submitting the form, Spotify will email you to confirm the cancellation. Follow the instructions in the email to successfully cancel your paid subscription. After cancellation, you'll switch back to "free" and still be able to listen to music, but with limited features.

Another way to cancel is by logging in to your account. Use the next steps below.

Log in to Spotify

Use this link: spotify.com/account

Click Your Profile Picture and Tap Account

The next page shows your Spotify plan. Scroll down and look for Manage Your Plan.

Tap Manage Your Plan

Click Change Plan

Tap Cancel Plan

Upon cancellation, you can still use Premium until your next billing date, and then the account switches to "free" automatically. You can still use your playlist on Spotify Free, but you can listen to them with ads.

If you have a Duo or Spotify family, follow the steps above and don't forget to let your partner or family members know you canceled the Spotify account.

Conclusion

Note that you still get to keep your account even after cancellation. However, Spotify also allows users to close their accounts and permanently delete their data. After closure, you will get an email with a reactivation link in case you change your mind about closing your account. You can no longer reactivate within seven days. After this time, you'll have to create another account with Spotify if you want to use this platform again in the future. If you have questions about your Spotify account, please don't hesitate to get in touch with Customer Support.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Spotify Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Spotify in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our How do I cancel my Spotify account? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
