However, if you report it quickly enough, you could have your replacement card in three to five days, and avoid unauthorized charges and a lot of stress.

How to Report Your Chase Credit Card Lost or Stolen

If your Chase credit card was lost or stolen, contact Chase customer service to report it as soon as possible.

Request a Replacement Card

You can replace your card through the app by following a few simple steps:

  1. Open the Chase Mobile app and log in.
  2. Tap the credit card you want to replace.
  3. Scroll down and tap Replace a lost or damaged card.
  4. Tap your card and the reason you need it replaced.
  5. Double-check your responses and submit the request.

Your replacement card should arrive within three to five business days. If it hasn't arrived after seven business days, sign in to the Chase Mobile app again. Tap Didn't receive card and follow the instructions, or call and explain that you didn't receive your replacement card.

If You Suspect Identify Theft

Since your credit card has sensitive information — your name, card number and CVV — printed on it, take every precaution if it was lost or stolen. If you were unable to report your missing card right away or you have reason to believe someone might be using your information for personal gain, take action right away. The longer you wait, the worse it could be.

If a thief has possession of your credit card while it's still active, they can use the information on your card for various criminal activities:

  • Steal money from your accounts
  • Obtain more credit cards
  • Apply for loans
  • Rent apartments

They can do all of these things in your name and damage your credit. If you think it's impossible because they only have one card, think again. They can use those bits of information to call financial institutions, internet providers and cell phone companies to find out enough information about you and do anything they want.

If that wasn't bad enough, if you need any of your own personal details from your accounts, it could be very difficult to get it. Since the companies who have this information know your identity has been stolen, they have to verify that you are who you say you are and not just someone impersonating you. You may have to present several documents just to obtain your own information.

What To Do

If you're at risk of identity theft, contact Chase credit cards immediately. They will help you to correct any unauthorized transactions on your Chase account and prevent potential theft and future fraud.

Here are some tips to stop a bad situation from getting much worse:

  1. File a police report. They might not catch the imposter, but having a record of your report can help clear your name later on.
  2. Call the fraud departments of all three credit reporting agencies: TransUnion, Equifax and Experian. This is so these companies will notify you before opening any new accounts in your name.
  3. File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). They have counsellors who are trained to help victims of identity theft.
  4. Fill out the Identity Theft Affidavit to let other companies know if someone has opened accounts in your name after stealing your identity.

All of this is preventable if you act fast. If your card is lost or stolen, contact Chase customer service.
