You may need to change your flight for several reasons for example a medical emergency or change in time of an event. Regardless, knowing how to change your flight will save you time and a lot of trouble.

Changing your flight with British Airways is relatively easy but first you should know the airline's flight change policy.

British Airways Flight Change Policy

You can change your flight with British Airways as long as you do it within 24 hours of purchasing your ticket. You get a 24-hour window to make changes to your booking with no charge or penalization.

British Airways allows passengers to make changes to their reservation even on the same day as their flight. However, for same day changes, you should make them at least an hour before the flight's departure time.

Moreover, the new flight should be on the same route and between the same airport for same day changes. You cannot make same day changes to long distance British Airways flights any more without paying a charge plus the fare difference.

You will be charged a change fee for altering a flight with British Airways. The fee is not generic and will depend on the ticket bought or the type of fare.

The lower the fare the lower the change fee will be. The airline reserves the right to calculate the change fee at their won discretion.

  3. Input your last name and booking reference in the empty fields and then click ‘Find my Booking.'
  4. If you are a business or executive ticket holder, you will have to log on to your account.
  5. You will be presented with the details of your ticket and then provided with the option to change your flight if your ticket is eligible.
  6. Choose a reason from the list why you want to change your flight and proceed.
  7. Input the details for the new ticket. You will be presented with all the possible options based on the information you enter. Select the most suitable option among the ones presented.
  8. Check the price differences between the original ticket and the new one. You will also see the change fee. Proceed to pay them both.
  9. Click ‘Confirm Change' to finish booking the new ticket.

You should see if you received a confirmation email for the change. If you don't receive the email, try again.

You can also visit a British Airway kiosk at the airport and ask them to change your flight. They will be happy to assist you.
