What Do I Do If My British Airways Flight Was Cancelled?

Flights get cancelled. This is a reality. However, there are steps you can take if your British Airways flights get cancelled. It's standard policy that cancel flights are fully refundable. A cancelled flight can be the result of poor weather conditions as well as a whole host of other issues. Irregardless, a cancelled flight is not the passengers fault and BA fully compensates customers up to 600€ under EU Regulation when these unfortunate events happen.

Your British Airways Flight Was Cancelled...

It's possible that your BA flight may be cancelled for a variety of different reasons that include delays of more than 3 hours, cancellations without 14 days, notice, and denied boarding as a result of overbooking. Your flight may be cancelled for other reasons as well, including weather conditions. You can check the status of your flight online before you go to the airport. It should also be noted that sometimes flights are cancelled due to low demand.

Your Options...Call British Airways

If you find out that your British Airways flight has been cancelled, you can call BA customer service right away and discuss your options. This is perhaps the least work intensive way to get results and get started on a refund. A BA agent will ask questions regarding what you want and will take steps to refund you or compensate you in some other way. This method is quick and easy and allows a BA agent to do most of the work for you. You can rebook your flight, get a voucher, or a refund.

Visit the British Airways Website

You can also go online to receive compensation for a cancelled flight. BA has an option online that will allow passengers to receive compensation through an online location that allows you to request a voucher good for a year. The voucher will give you twelve months form your original departure date to use the voucher. You will not need to fill out a claim form on the website.

Other options...

If your BA flight is cancelled, you don't have to rush to call BA right away. You have up to a year to claim a voucher for your cancelled flight. If you have no desire to travel you are entitled to full compensation which includes all taxes and fees. Your refund will be credited to the original credit card or form of payment that you used. Of course, you can rebook your flight as well.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for British Airways Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
