Two-factor authentication is a way to add an extra layer of security to your Ally Invest account. All you need to do is complete these steps, and you'll be good to go.

1. Log In To Ally Invest and Navigate to My Profile

After you log in, navigate to My Profile. Click on the Security Options link. You will receive a prompt to enter a code from an app or text message. Once you have entered this code, you will see the 2-step verification settings page.

2. Click Register

  • Under Two-Factor Authentication, click Register. Select a method of receiving the code such as via emails or SMS text messages.
  • Enter your contact information for this service in the corresponding fields and click Next Step to proceed; enter a secret text you can remember and click Confirm to confirm it.
  • Input your username, password and secret word when prompted at this step, then select an authentication method from the drop-down menu under Two-Factor Authentication Settings: Time-Based or Location Based (for example, Google Authenticator) before clicking Save Changes.

3. Enter and Confirm Your Contact Information

If you haven't already done so, now is the time to:

  • Add your phone number and email address.
  • You'll also need to confirm your email address before moving on.
  • Answer a security question that only you know the answer to verify your identity when logging into your account.

4. Choose a Method To Receive the Authentication Code

Next, you'll need to choose a method of receiving the authentication code. If you choose email, you will receive an automated message in your account email address with a unique 6-digit code. If you opt for text messages, you'll receive a text message instead.

5. Check Your Email or Phone

To complete the process, you will need to enter the code:

  • The code is a 6-digit number. Once you receive it, click OK or press Enter. You should receive your 2FA verification code within a few minutes.

If you do not see the message right away or if you are having problems with the mobile app:

  • Check your spam folder for messages from Ally Invest or its service providers.
  • Click Resend Code at the bottom of the prompt and try again.

6. Enter the Authentication Code

Enter the authentication code into the appropriate field and hit Proceed.

If you need to verify your identity:

  • Enter your password and click on Verify Identity button.

This will provide you with an additional security test that you must pass before proceeding with any two-factor authentication (2FA) sessions.

7. Click Approve To Complete the Registration

You will get a prompt to approve the registration. If you don't receive a prompt, go to the profile page and click on the Two-Factor Authentication icon to approve your registration. After completing these steps, Ally Invest will protect your account with two-factor authentication.
