How Do I Setup Bill Pay with Ally Bank?

Jul 13, 2023

If you have an Interest Checking account with Ally Bank, then you can have the bank make your bill payments for you. The bank will take the money out of your account when it is needed and send it where it needs to go, all without you doing anything. Whenever possible, the payment will be sent electronically. If a payee doesn't accept electronic payments then the bank will send a check instead. To find out how to get these recurring payments going, keep on reading this article.

How to Set Up Recurring Payments from Your Ally Bank Interest Checking Account

To set up recurring payments, take these steps:

  1. Go Ally Bank's home page.
  2. Log into your account.
  3. Go to the Bill Pay section.
  4. Find the list of your payees.
  5. Find the payee you want to pay automatically. If you can't find your payee on the list, you can add the required information yourself.
  6. Click on Recurring Payments, located next to your payee.
  7. Choose a date to start making payments on.
  8. Select a frequency for the payment.
  9. Enter an amount.
  10. If your chosen payee allows it, decide whether the bank should pay the minimum or full amount of the bill. This is a useful feature for bills that are always different, like credit card bills.
  11. Select a duration for these payments.

Ally Bank recommends you don't use the recurring bill payment tool to make court-ordered payments or to pay taxes of any sort.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Ally Bank Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
