If you have an Ally Bank account and need to get money to someone with an account at another bank as quickly as possible, you should send a wire transfer. You can do so online, or download a form and fax it to the bank. Ally Bank will charge you a $20 fee for sending the transfer.
If you have an Ally Bank account, you can use it to send fast, secure wire transfers to an account at a different bank. To learn how to do that, keep on reading.
There are a few different kinds of electronic transfer. The wire transfer is the fastest type. That's because the funds are sent directly from one bank to another instead of being processed in batches by a third party. Wire transfers also tend to be the most expensive type because direct electronic transfers cost a lot. Wire transfers are best for situations where speed is critical and the amount is high enough to justify the fee.
To send a wire transfer, you can go to the Ally Bank online wire transfer form, fill it out, and submit it online. You can also download a PDF of the form, print it out, and fax it to 1-866-608-2635. You will need the following information:
Wire transfer requests received before 3 p.m. Eastern Standard Time will be processed on the same day. Requests received after that time will be processed on the next business day. The fee for sending a wire transfer is $20. If you are sending money to your Ally Invest account, the $20 fee will be reimbursed within two business days.
Please note that you can only send domestic wire transfers from your Ally Bank account. Ally Bank does not allow you to send international wire transfers.
Because time is probably of the essence, you may want to check on the status of your wire transfer to learn the moment it has been delivered or to learn if there were any problems with the transfer. Just use the online wire transfer tracking tool to get up-to-the-moment information. You can also check your email because Ally Bank will send you updates on your wire transfer status. That information isn't as up to date, however.
If you have any questions about sending a wire transfer from your Ally Bank account, ask an Ally Bank representative. You can contact one on the Ally Bank help forum or chat or use the customer service email or phone line.
