Calling this number wasn't very effective because you need to have an account with MoneyCard to get much assistance. There is a way to get through to a representative without having an account, but the assistance you get after doing so really isn't very effective.

When you call, you're expected to provide either your 16-digit account number or your nine-digit Social Security number to get assistance. However, if you don't have this information or don't want to provide it, there are other options to get assistance. You can ask for help if you bought a card in error, need to close an account or need other assistance from someone.

I chose other assistance and was connected with a representative after about a minute and a half of waiting. When I got connected, the representative asked me for my account number, and I said that I didn't yet have an account number and wanted to ask about the details of getting a MoneyCard account.

She asked what kind of details I needed, and I said that I was confused as to whether the MoneyCard was a credit card or a debit card. She said that she understood that I wasn't yet a card holderĀ and would look for the information. Before doing so, she wanted to get my name and address, and I hung up at that point because I didn't really feel comfortable giving that information for a simple question.

I received a call back to attempt to continue to get information from me, which I did not answer. Based on this interaction, I feel like this number is best used by people who already have a card as opposed to those who need information.
