I was given a choice of either entering my account number or my social security number. Not having an account number and not wanting to provide my social security number, I opted to do nothing. The system then repeated itself, and I tried hitting a different button that what it had requested and saying I did not wish to use either option. The system would then repeat its message.
After repeating itself six times, the system did take me past the main menu and connect me to a representative, who asked what she could do to assist me. I told her that I wanted to find out how long I had to return an item I had ordered from Macy's, and she told me that I would have 30 days from the time I placed the order. I asked her if this was calendar days or business days, and she told me that it was calendar days and reiterated that the clock would start when I placed the order, not when I received it. I thanked her for the information and ended the call.
Overall, I think there would be better ways to get information, but this number would be useful if you're actually holding the Macy's credit card. If you're a regular Macy's customer, you should probably use a different number, although this one is still effective.
