What are the hours and when should I call?

GEICO operates the call center for this 800-841-3000 phone number 24 hours, 7 days. The short answer is that you should call on a Monday. This observation and the following section are based on analysis of a sample set of 47,804 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).
An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this GEICO phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like GEICO staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.
The least busy time to call
The least busy day to call GEICO is Monday. The most busy day to call is Wednesday. Again, this is based on a sample of 47,804 calls made with our AI-powered, web-based phone in the last 90 days.
The shortest wait on hold
We measured the shortest hold times to be on Thursday. The longest wait in the queue on average occurs on Monday.
The best time to call
In summation, the best day to call GEICO is Monday. This is not the day with the shortest wait on hold in the phone system, but we still recommend it for its ideal combination of low call volume and short hold times. Plus we believe that GEICO staffs the call center well on Monday.

My Experience Calling GEICO at this Number

Jan 11, 2024

This GEICO customer service line is set up specifically for new or existing customers who are seeking information about the company’s insurance policies. This all-purpose number offers assistance with getting insurance quotes, submitting insurance claims, making changes to insurance policies, and more.

When I called, I was greeted by an automated message asking for the reason for my call. I was then presented with an automated menu that prompted me to choose between getting a quote, making a claim, getting roadside assistance, or “other.”

I chose the final option because I was looking to get information about potential changes to the existing auto insurance policy I have with GEICO. I was immediately prompted to enter my date of birth. After doing so, the automated system informed me that they had located my policy and that I’d be transferred to a customer service representative.

Following a very brief wait, I was directly connected to a GEICO customer rep. The rep was very professional, and she informed me that she already had my policy details pulled up in her system. After confirming my identity, she asked how she could be of assistance.

I was calling to find out how much it would cost to increase the coverage on my auto insurance policy. The rep patiently went through several different options with me, explaining how each change in my policy limits would impact the cost of my policy. Because there was a wide variety of options, she also informed me that all of this information was available on my online GEICO customer portal.

Because I was undecided about the exact levels of coverage I wanted, I decided to end the call and further explore my options online. Reviewing all of my options in writing seemed simpler than having the rep read out a long list of coverage limits and the prices that corresponded to each of those coverages. The rep kindly let me know that once I’d made my final decision about the changes to my policy, I could enact those changes via the online portal or call back and make the changes over the phone.

Based on my experience, I would feel completely comfortable calling this customer service line for additional assistance with my GEICO policy. The customer experience was smooth, and it was very simple to route my call to the correct place. I experienced next to no wait time, and the rep with whom I spoke was knowledgeable and friendly.

GEICO’s online portal is also a good resource for customers with existing insurance policies. If, for some reason, a call to customer service was unsuccessful, the company’s website is another easy-to-use resource for information.
