What are the hours and when should I call?

Expedia operates the call center for this 800-319-4834 phone number 24 hours, 7 days. The short answer is that you should call on a Thursday. This observation and the following section are based on analysis of a sample set of 216,773 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).

Automatically call when they open

When you use our free AI-powered phone to call and talk, wait on hold, or navigate for you, it will automatically wait until the Expedia call center opens before trying to call. It will ask your permission before it places the call, so you can also further delay that scheduled call until you are ready. But that means you can "set it and forget it" ahead of time.
An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this Expedia phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like Expedia staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.

The least busy time to call

The least busy day to call Expedia is Sunday. The most busy day to call is Friday, which averages 43% more phone calls by comparison. Again, this is based on a sample of 216,773 calls made with our AI-powered, web-based phone in the last 90 days.

The shortest wait on hold

We measured the shortest hold times to be on Thursday. The longest wait in the queue on average occurs on Sunday, which is 132% longer than the minimum. As you can see, there is more fluctuation in hold time over the course of the week than there is in call volume.
But if you use our free call and talk for me or wait on hold for me service, you don't really need to worry about average wait times.

The best time to call Expedia

In summation, the best day to call Expedia is Thursday. It isn't the least busy day, but the fact that hold times are shortest combined with it being on the busy side tells us that Expedia staffs up on Thursday to handle the higher call volume, and that makes it the best time to call.

Calling this Expedia Customer Number

Calling Expedia was actually a pleasant experience once I heard and understood the automated system at the beginning of the call. I also had to find a workaround to the start of my call so that I could get by the automated system.

Before calling this number, it's important to know that Expedia mostly views this number as a way to help customers who already have a booking in place rather than customers who do not. Calling this number isn't going to be easy to get assistance unless you have a booking in place, as the system will repeatedly ask you to enter either the phone number associated with the account or your 15-digit booking number.

If you have neither of those, the system will keep asking you to enter it, unless you figure out how to work around the chokepoint. Entering 0 will actually bypass the automated system and take you to a representative without having a booking on file.

When I tried this, I did so by complete accident, as I was stuck in a loop of multiple messages from the automated system. Despite this, I got through and asked the representative what the cancellation policy at Expedia was if I bought through them.

The representative told me that the cancellation policy would depend on each hotel and its own policies rather than one corporate answer. They also further told me that I would see the cancellation policy when I completed the reservation, so I wouldn't have to worry about booking a hotel and then finding a cheaper price elsewhere. With no other questions, I ended the call there.

Overall, I thought this was a strong experience except for the time spent trying to get around the system. If that were cleaned up, I'd use this number without hesitation. As it is, I'd use it, but only if I absolutely had to use it.

Why Customers Call Expedia

If you have time to do a bit of reading before you call Expedia, we recommend you read over some of our problem-specific articles.

What is the Expedia cancellation policy?

The Expedia cancellation policy varies depending on the specific booking and the policies set by the airline, hotel, car rental agency, or vacation rental property. Generally, Expedia allows you to cancel or make changes to your booking without incurring any additional fees if you do it within the provided cancellation window. However, cancellation policies can differ for different bookings and may incur charges or are non-refundable, especially for discounted or non-flexible reservations. To understand the specific cancellation policy for your booking, it's recommended to review the booking details or contact Expedia customer support. Keep in mind that some reservations may be non-refundable regardless of cancellation timeframes, so it's essential to review the terms and conditions before making any booking.

Are pets allowed in Expedia accommodations?

Yes, pets are allowed in some Expedia accommodations. However, the policy regarding pets may vary depending on the specific hotel or property. You can find out if a particular accommodation accepts pets by checking the property description and amenities listed on the Expedia website. It is recommended to use the search filters or look for the "Pets allowed" option to narrow down your options. Some properties may have restrictions on the type, size, or number of pets allowed, and additional charges may apply. To ensure a hassle-free stay with your furry friend, it is always best to contact the hotel directly or consult with Expedia customer service for any specific pet-related queries or concerns before making a reservation.

What is the Expedia cancellation policy for flights?

The Expedia cancellation policy for flights varies depending on the airline and fare category. In most cases, flights booked through Expedia are non-refundable. However, there are certain exceptions where a full or partial refund may be available. Expedia allows users to manage their flight bookings online and provides options to cancel or modify reservations. Fees and penalties for cancellations or changes also vary depending on the airline and fare type. It is important to review the terms and conditions displayed during the booking process to understand the specific cancellation policy for your flight. Expedia encourages customers to consider purchasing travel insurance to protect against unforeseen circumstances that may require cancellation or changes to their flight reservations.

More Expedia Customer Service Contacts

There are of course other ways to contact Expedia customer service besides the phone. Below we list the best ones, by medium.

Expedia Customer Service on X (formerly Twitter)

Expedia, like many companies, provides customer service on the X platform (formerly Twitter). While it rarely entails live dialogue with a customer service rep, this channel can yield rapid response times and can be a useful option if you have an X/Twitter account.

Use this page for quick, efficient online self service
As a last, sometimes only, resort- Expedia customer service can be accessed through their website. This can entail digging through help articles before finding a form and "being allowed" to submit a problem to their team, and rarely leads to a real-time conversation, which is why GetHuman does not recommend this unless it's the only way.
